"A great day of life .... well, of course I'm in my studio ( my creative son, Andrew and his girlfriend, Rene helped renovate this past summer). Sun is streaming in the window and Lizzie has found the most advantageous spot to catch the rays. We've got celtic music playing and I'm lost in a dream ... a dream full of color, texture, form and the mood of the moment. Time passes without me while my brush glides, bounces and taps against the canvas as a world unknown to even me, until that last stroke, emerges. Only the opening of the door as my husband, Dave and our son, Andrew return from fishing with a "special treasure" a rock or twig to keep with my references.... awakens me to the fact it has been hours... blessed hours! But it is time to hear about their adventure which will probably become part of that next painting. Lizzie and I can smell the cookies now so off we all go... but tomorrow we'll have another great day!"
About the artist, Suzette
Maine wildlife artist, Suzette was born in the Maine town of Millinocket at the base of Mount Katahdin. A small New England town quietly situated in the north woods, abundant with lakes, mountains, trees and of course ... wildlife. This setting seems to have set in motion a love of nature and desire to emulate it in art form. Like most youngsters back then, Suzette picked up crayons and drew on anything much to the dismay of her mom! But that love of seeing an image evolve was too strong to stop. She moved to upstate NY and attended art classes at R.I.T. and U of R. After moving back to Maine she devoted herself to creating colorful works of art depicting nature scenes around her Brownville home. She operates a small art studio in her "big ol' house" where she lives with her husband, David and art critic coon cat, Lizzie Beth. When not painting commissions she and Lizzie can be found snuggling on the couch while sharing chocolate chip cookies and lost in a great novel.
